envy 6010
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all

Just purchased an envy 6010 all in one. Printer works fine but scanner does not and when I try to install latest software get an installation error saying that that installation cannot write to folder on C:\  I tried troubleshooting and installed desktop trouble shooter will not work (This app can't run on your PC). I have W10 64 bit on an old desktop using asus m3n78 pro mobo with 8Gb ram - just for curiosity tried to install software on my old OS W7 on same desktop and it works fine. Only problem is that old W7 does not like running on 8Gb memory upgraded when I switched to W10, I won't say upgraded as it seems to be a backward step to me but W7 is out of support .

Any help gratefully received

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

Can you download and install the FULL featured printer software from HP for your operating system:
https://support.hp.com/sg-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-envy-6000-all-in-one-printer-series/29...

(It works even on Win10)

This example will be useful:

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

If help is needed to reset the wireless, follow this:

Hi Greenturtle

Many thanks for replying so quickly

Did everything you said....

This did not resolve the problem. I end up with the same result and HP putting a troubleshooter app onto my desktop that will not run !

Not very good unfortunately. It is a W10 64 /HP software issue as software loads and  scanner runs on w7 32 but I dont now use w7 for obvious reasons. Frustrating thing is that HP put an app on my desktop that will not run so that's an HP issue I feel

Hi @Daws2

Can try using HP Smart instead:

HP Envy 6055 | Envy Pro 6455: Connect printer to 5 GHz network using HP Smart on Windows 10 computer

If there is no 5GHz network, connect to 2.4GHz.

After connecting, check out this resource on how to scan using HP Smart:

Hope that helps!

Thanks again Greenturtle

This does work either.

My thoughts are that there is a HP issue here - this is  because the troubleshooter placed on desktop by HP that is supposed to sort this out does not even run on the OS!

Troubleshooter does not work HP

cheers

Hi @Daws2

At this point, we can only recommend Webscan.

Check out this resource on how to enable and use Webscan:

Thanks.

Hope that helps!

As a side note,  not sure if the upgraded Win 10 on the PC could lack certain files that is causing the issues. We're using Win 10 as well but did not encounter the issues stated.
