envy photo 7100 Series
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I have an Envy Photo 7100 Series printer and have been printing from my PC for several years,now suddenly I cant print anymore.My PC is Windows 8.1.It is up to date as is my printer.I print with a wireless home network.I have tried uninstalling the printer software but now when I try to install the printer software again all I get is an installation failure notice.Is this printer no longer compatible with Windows 8 or what am I doing wrong that it no longer prints when it used to or why can I not download the software? I can still print from my iphone.

Welcome to the HP support community.

 

I understand that you are getting printer driver installation issues, I am glad to assist you.

Did you uninstall the printer driver from the root level before installing the new driver?

If not, follow these steps:-

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers. 
  • Restart the PC again.

I appreciate the time you took to give your tips on installing the software.I had no apparent issues this time downloading the software(I got no error messages),however,I still cannot print anything.I am very puzzled about it,since I have been printing from this printer for several years,now suddenly I can't anymore.Do you have further advice?

This might require remote access to your computer to fix the issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
