Hey,

i have a problem with my printer. I added it through the HP Smart App and this worked just fine. So printing works. But i cannot "scan to pc" The printer says that i need software. So i went to HP website and downloaded the full software package:

Well even here the printer is detected but it can't be finally added through the software.

 

Any ideas how to get it working or what software is needed to enable scan to pc?

 

The printer is connected via W-Lan with the router and my PC is connected via LAN to the router.

Hi,
Can you try this:

* *Note that if there are other printers installed, these will need to be reinstalled after this.

Step 1. Uninstall the HP Software from your PC. Please follow the steps provided to uninstall the printer software in the link:

Also, please follow the steps provided below to completely remove the printer software from printer properties.
Steps to remove printer driver files from Print Server Properties:

Step 2. Open the Print Server Properties dialog window by doing one of the following:
• Click the Start menu and in the search field type 'printui /s /t2' (without the quotes), and then press Enter or click it in the search list.
• Open “Devices and Printers” (not Win10)
• Select any printer and then click "Print server properties" at the top of the window.
• Click on the Drivers tab.
• Click on each printer driver and click on Remove

For Win10:
• Press WINDOWS-R on the keyboard to bring up the Run window, type in 'printui /s /t2' (without the quotes), and then press Enter or click OK.
• Click on the Drivers tab.
• Click on each printer driver and click on Remove
• From the Start menu or the Start screen:
• Open “Printers and Scanners”
• Click on each Printer and click “Remove Device”

Step 3. Backup your registry before making any registry changes, the following resource will show you how:

Step 4. Update the registry using the Reg file below
Note: this will change some printer related policies for your PC):

Step 5. Right click the Start menu and select Run. Type Services.msc and press OK.
Locate and stop the Print Spooler service

Step 6. Browse to c:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers.
Rename W32X86 to W32x86.oldRename x64 to x64.old
Note: if any of these folders fail to rename reboot your PC and then continue following the steps starting from Step 5.

Step 7. Restart PC.

Step 8. Finally, reinstall the HP Software.

You're on the right track, just ensure the FULL featured software is installed properly.

Yeah i already thought so, that i need this software. BUT the software does not install finally. While installation process the printer should be detected (this works mostly) and then the installer continues with "installing network device" this takes very long and ends in "unable to add the device, please retry".

 

Well i already uninstall everything and retried multiple times, but it does not work. Adding the printer via HP Smart App works fine and i can print. But i cannot install the full software.

I uninstalled all HP software and removed the printer, restarted the PC and printer.

When i choosed LAN connection (although it is connected via WLAN) i could enter the Host name and then it worked.

 

Just one problem, when i restarted the printer it says

"Instant Ink was canceled. The printer is no longer registered for HP Instat Ink. He can still use HP Instant Ink Ready-cartridges, but not cartridges from HP Instant Ink- Program"

Glad that you are able to install successfully and able to use the Scan to PC function..

 

Regarding the Instant Ink, would suggest that you log into your Instant Ink account and check if you are still registered (or re-register)

Have you checked you HP Instant Ink account page? Your Instant Ink account page will have notifications if there are any issues with the account, it will even provide solutions on how to fix the issue. You may log in to your HP Instant Ink account page from here

Hey @Asmita6658 I looked into the account and the instant ink is still active and recognize when i print. So i guess it was just an wrong error message on the printer. I read on other boards that it's a common message after firmware updates. Since i installed the printer today and this was the first restart i think the printer updated itself. If this message continues i'll contact you again.
