My HP Envy photo 7855 is frozen on the initial logo screen with a full blue bar and the first dot filled in.

i have tried unplugging over night and I have held down the power button after unplugging and plugging back in.
There is no ability to connect to the printer or access its menus as the printer does not get past the boot screen.

The printer has been stuck this way for 3 days now. I have power cycled several times and tried holding the power button many times.

I would like help doing a hard reset.

Please help,

thank you

Hi @Biga22582,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy Photo 7855 is stuck on the boot screen with the blue bar and the first dot filled in, and traditional power cycling and resets have not resolved the issue, here are some additional steps you can try:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

While you’ve already tried power cycling and holding the power button, here’s a more detailed method for performing a hard reset:

Turn Off the Printer:

  • Ensure the printer is turned off. If it’s not responding, unplug it from the power source.:
  • Leave the printer unplugged for at least 60 seconds. This gives it time to fully discharge and reset.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Plug the printer back into the power source.
  • Wait a few seconds before turning it on.

Power On the Printer:

  • Turn on the printer by pressing the power button.

2. Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions

Sometimes, physical obstructions or paper jams can cause the printer to freeze during startup:

Open All Compartments:

  • Open the paper tray, output tray, and any other compartments to check for any paper jams or obstructions.

Remove Any Jammed Paper:

  • Carefully remove any paper or debris that you find. Make sure nothing is obstructing the paper path or printer mechanisms.

3. Disconnect All Cables and Accessories

Unplug All Cables:

  • Disconnect the power cable, USB cable (if connected), and any other accessories (e.g., memory cards).

Wait and Reconnect:

  • Wait a few minutes before reconnecting the cables.
  • Plug the power cable back in and turn on the printer.

4. Check for Firmware Issues

If the printer is still frozen, it might be a firmware issue:

Check for Updates:

  • If you can access HP’s website or use the HP Smart app, check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model.

Reinstall Firmware:

  • If possible, reinstall or update the firmware using HP’s support resources. This usually requires the printer to be functioning, so it may not be applicable if the printer remains frozen.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
