@SRJ23,

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Community! 🎉

I’m here to help you troubleshoot your issue and get things back on track. Just follow these steps below, and we’ll have you running smoothly in no time:

1. Check the Printer's Physical Setup

  • Power cycle the printer: Turn off the printer, wait for 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • Ensure the printer is properly connected to your network if it's a wireless printer, or via USB if using a wired connection.
  • Make sure the printer's Wi-Fi light (if using Wi-Fi) or USB connection is stable and solid.

2. Restart Your Computer

  • Reboot your computer to reset any network or software configurations that might be causing the issue.

3. Check for Network Issues

  • If you're setting up a wireless connection, confirm that the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
  • You can print a network configuration page from the printer's menu (Kindly refer the user manual) to confirm it is connected to the correct network.

4. Reinstall or Update Printer Drivers

  • Uninstall the HP printer software from your computer:
    1. Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features (Windows) or System Preferences > Printers & Scanners (Mac).
    2. Find the HP software, select it, and uninstall.
  • Download and install the latest HP drivers:
    • Visit the official HP support page and search for your printer model to download the latest drivers and software.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software and reconnect the printer.

5. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • HP Print and Scan Doctor is a free tool provided by HP that can automatically diagnose and fix many common printing problems.
    • Download it from the HP support website.
    • Run the tool, and it will check for errors and suggest fixes for any issues related to the printer setup.

6. Check Firewall or Antivirus Settings

  • Sometimes, security software can block the connection between your computer and the printer.
  • Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus software and then try setting up the printer again. If it works, add an exception in your firewall or antivirus settings for the printer's software.

7. Perform a Reset on the Printer

  • Factory reset the printer if none of the above step's work:
    • This can be done through the printer's control panel (if available or refer the user manual of your unit). Look for a "Restore Defaults" or "Reset All Settings" option in the menu.
    • Note: A reset will erase any personalized settings, like custom Wi-Fi configurations.

8. Check for Errors in HP Smart or Printer Setup

  • If you're using HP Smart or HP Easy Start to set up your printer, make sure you're following the correct steps.
  • Try manually connecting the printer via its IP address by entering the IP in your browser and following on-screen prompts.
