HP LaserJet M209dw

I live in an apartment community and they just installed a printer in our business center. When I tried to connect to it, it asked me to enter a PIN# which I did and then it asked me to create an HP account. I don't understand why this is necessary. I don't think you want hundreds of people creating an account to use 1 printer. I did create an account reluctantly. When I did, I received the error (Error Code OW_4XX_OWSWS00001). This doesn't tell me anything. The printer is HP LaserJet M209dw. The serial number is [Personal Information Removed].  Please help!

Hi @AxiosuserSTP

Welcome to the HP Support Community. Thanks for bringing this to our notice.

I see that you are facing issues with your printer. Do not worry, we are here to fix it.

May I know from when are you facing this issue?

Did you make any hardware or software-related changes to it?

May I know the Operating System you are using here? Is it Windows or Mac?

Keep me posted.

Thanks.

I am still having the issue . The apartment complex installed a new printer for all the residents to use. When I tried to connect to it, HP said I needed to setup an account? I did and but can't connect. See attached screenshots for errors

Alright.

Follow these steps to fix the issue.

Perform a power reset

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet and printer without any surge protector.
  6. Turn on the printer.

Update the printer firmware

Here are the steps:- Click here

Let me know how it goes.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
