I am trying to set up the printer and i am getting the error Error Code: OW_4XX_OWSWS00001 through the HP SMART app.

Could you help?

i am pretty much at my wit's end with this problem. I get an error code saying my printer can not register, and I've followed all the advice on the HP site that I can. The error code is OW_4XX_OWSW00001. I've tried registering it thru the windows app and the android app. I've tried updating the firmware. I've tried hiding it and then re-registering it. I even installed that stupid HP Scan doctor and that didn't work. Because it was the same thing as working with it from the settings in HP smart. Now idk how to get rid of Scan Doctor, my printer still isn't registered, and I've resorted to asking a community of people to help fix a problem that I should be able to talk to an HP representative about. If someone from HP answers this, I want to let you know I'm thoroughly unhappy with your product and your app. And if there was a way I could get a refund for it I would. I just want to use my printer. Any help is appreciated.

I understand your frustration, The error code you're encountering seems to be related to problems with the HP Smart app and printer registration. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.

 

  • Check Internet Connection: Ensure that your printer is connected to the internet and that your internet connection is stable. A poor or unstable connection can cause registration issues.
  • Update HP Smart App: Make sure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your device. Check for updates in the app store on your Windows or Android device and update if necessary.
  • Reinstall HP Smart App: If updating doesn't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Smart app. This can resolve any potential software glitches.
  • Reset Printer Network Settings: On your printer, navigate to the network settings and perform a network reset. This will clear any existing network configurations and allow you to set up the connection again.
  • Factory Reset Printer: As a last resort, you may consider performing a factory reset on your printer. Be aware that this will erase all custom settings on your printer, including wireless credentials and customized settings.
