Hi @MKB12,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting Error Code: OW_4XX_OWSWS00001. OW_4XX_0WSWS00001: Connectivity was lost during setup. Make sure that the device with the HP app and the printer are on the same network, and then retry setup.

Kindly refer to the steps to resolve the issue:

 1. Update the HP app

Update the HP app to the latest version, which can fix setup or connection issues.

Open an internet browser on the device with the HP app and go to 123.hp.com.

On the page that opens, search for your HP printer.

The print app for your printer is displayed on the page.

Click the link on the page to open the app store for your device.

Click Update to get the latest version of the print app.

If only Open displays, the app is up to date.

2. Make sure the printer is ready for software setup

Check for any remaining packing materials and make sure the printer is in a ready state.

Make sure all packing materials and tape have been removed. Open the cartridge access door and the paper tray to look for and remove any remaining materials inside the printer.

Turn the printer off, and then turn the printer on.

Return to the error window in the HP app, and then click Try Again.

If the issue is not resolved, select Exit Setup, and then close the HP app. Restart the printer, and then reopen the HP app to complete the setup.

3. Remove and re-add the printer in the HP app

Troubleshoot HP app and HP account setup issues by removing and re-adding the printer.

Make sure the printer is connected to the same network as your computer or with a USB cable.

Close then reopen your print app.

Turn the printer off, and then turn the printer on.

Remove the printer from your print app.

HP app: Click your printer, scroll to the bottom of the page, and then click Remove from app.

HP Smart: right-click your printer, click Hide Printer, and then click Hide Printer again.

Click Add Printer, and then complete the setup in the print app.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @MKB12,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand the error code you're encountering seems to be related to problems with the HP app and printer registration. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.

  • Check Internet Connection: Ensure that your printer is connected to the internet and that your internet connection is stable. A poor or unstable connection can cause registration issues.

  • Update HP App: Make sure you have the latest version of the HP app installed on your device. Check for updates in the app store on your Windows or Android device and update if necessary. HP App – For HP Printers, Laptops, and Tech Accessories | HP® Official Site

  • Reinstall HP App: If updating doesn't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP app. This can resolve any potential software glitches.

  • Reset Printer Network Settings: On your printer, navigate to the network settings and perform a network reset. This will clear any existing network configurations and allow you to set up the connection again.

  • Factory Reset Printer: As a last resort, you may consider performing a factory reset on your printer. Be aware that this will erase all custom settings on your printer, including wireless credentials and customised settings.

    I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.
