I've had this problem and followed all the steps HP has suggested, Problem is that HP Smart does not work on a Desktop

But it works just fine with my Android phone. Go figure......

Now, Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

 

Update the computer

 

1) In the search box, type, and open Windows Updates. 

2) Check for updates. 

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer. 

 

Now, reinstall the HP Smart App and see if that works.
