Hi @GC0001,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting the error code UU_400_EB000U0701 typically occurs during the setup of an HP printer, often due to issues with the HP Smart app, network connection, or printer firmware. Here’s how to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
Steps to Resolve the Error
Verify the Network Connection:
- Ensure your printer is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.
- Restart your router and printer to refresh the connection.
- Confirm that your computer or smartphone is on the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- On the printer, navigate to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer and check for any available firmware updates.
- If the printer is not connected to Wi-Fi, connect it temporarily via a USB cable to update the firmware from your computer using the HP firmware update tool.
Restart HP Smart and Clear Cache:
- If using a smartphone or tablet:
- Clear the cache of the HP Smart app via the app settings.
- If using a PC:
- Close HP Smart, clear temporary files from your system, and then reopen the app.
Uninstall and Reinstall HP Smart: HP printer setup (HP Smart app)
- Uninstall the HP Smart app from your device.
- Re-download and reinstall the app from the HP Smart website or your device’s app store.
Disable VPN or Firewall (Temporary):
- If you’re using a VPN or firewall, temporarily disable it, as it might block the app from communicating with HP servers.
Manually Assign an IP Address:
- Use the printer's control panel to print a network configuration page.
- Locate the printer's IP address or hostname.
- Access your printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) by entering the IP address in your browser.
- Go to Network Settings and manually assign a static IP to ensure consistent connectivity.
Factory Reset the Printer:
- On the printer's control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
- After the reset, restart the setup process.
