OfficeJet 3830 All-in-one
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've tried everything. I've deleted it off my pc and re-installed it back, I've restarted the spooling, I've redownloaded the drivers, I've restarted my printer, even the driver set up tool doesn't work. At the end of all that, I still get the message of "Error printing on..." or "... is in Error state". Its infuriating to see this annoying message everytime I try to print something.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Root level uninstall and reinstallation:

  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP OfficeJet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

Reinstall basic printer drivers: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-3830-all-in-one-printer-series/7172321

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Under printer servers, there are three drivers that are unremovable due to "the specified printer is in use". I've removed anything related to a printer in my Devices, checked twice and it still wouldn't budge. Why?

The drivers are the Hp OfficeJet 3830 Series 64x itself

and Microsoft Enhanced point and print compatibility driver in 64x type and 84x type.

Thank you for posting back.

As issue persists, I would suggest you install Windows built-in drivershttps://support.hp.com/sg-en/document/c01796879
