Hi @Godmomannie,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8120e is showing error code F0.01.01.04 after you changed the ink cartridges. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Understand what the error means

Error F0.01.01.04 with a firmware process name usually indicates a firmware or initialization failure, not a bad ink cartridge.

This often appears after cartridge replacement when the printer firmware does not complete startup correctly.

Perform a full power reset

Leave the printer turned on.

Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.

Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Wait at least 60 seconds.

Plug the power cord directly into the wall outlet and reconnect it to the printer.

Turn the printer back on and wait for initialization.

Remove cartridges during startup

Turn the printer on.

Open the cartridge access door.

Remove all ink cartridges.

Close the door and allow the printer to continue starting without cartridges.

If the printer reaches the Home screen, power it off, reinstall the cartridges, and power it back on.

Reseat the ink cartridges

Remove each cartridge and inspect it.

Make sure all protective tape has been removed.

Reinstall each cartridge firmly until it clicks into place.

Close the access door completely and wait for the printer to initialize.

Check cartridge compatibility

Confirm the cartridges are the correct HP cartridge numbers for the OfficeJet Pro 8120e and your region.

Incorrect or region-mismatched cartridges can trigger firmware errors after installation.

Disconnect all external connections

Turn the printer off.

Disconnect USB, Ethernet, and fax cables (if any).

Leave only the power cable connected.

Power the printer back on and check if the error clears.

I hope this helps.
