Product: HP OfficeJet 8015e All-in-One Printer

My printer is under warranty. It won't connect online or through the port. I reached out to tech support (123.hp.com) and suddenly I was on the phone with a gentleman with thick accent telling me my laptop had been hacked and I needed to buy Azure software. His phone number (which he said was his direct line) was [personal info removed]. I was on the phone with this guy for hours. All I wanted was for HP to honor the warranty. This guy told me the hardware was no good on the printer and it voided the warranty, but I need to buy this hacking software as soon as I buy another printer. 
I was leery to contact HP tech support again, in fear I'm going to get another pushy salesman, but I wanted to know what the status was on my warranty.  I do currently have an open case (that I reopened on Monday) but no call back from HP.
Very disappointed that HP can't
