On the display for my hp 2700e printer, there is an exclamation mark on my display.  It has been there since the day I bought the printer and turned it on.  What is it?

Hi @jwatson413,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If there's a persistent exclamation mark on your HP 2700e printer's display, it typically indicates that there's a problem that needs attention. Here are a few common reasons for the exclamation mark and what you can do.

  • Low Ink or Toner: The most common reason for an exclamation mark on a printer's display is low ink or toner. Check your ink or toner levels to see if they are low. If they are, you'll need to replace the cartridge.
  • Paper Jam: Another common issue is a paper jam. Even if you can't see any paper stuck in the printer, there might be a small piece causing the jam detection. Open the printer's cover and carefully remove any stuck paper.
  • Printer Error: Sometimes the printer itself has an error that needs to be cleared. Try turning off the printer, unplugging it for a few minutes, then plugging it back in and turning it on again. This can sometimes reset the printer and clear the error.
  • Missing Cartridge: If you have multiple cartridges, make sure they are all properly installed. If one is missing or not seated correctly, the printer might show an error.
  • Firmware Update: Occasionally, a firmware update might be needed to resolve the issue. Check HP's website for any available firmware updates for your printer model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
