MY FAX DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. I AM USING MAC AND WINDOWS 10 ON TWO DIFFERENT COMPUTERS. TODAY I TRIED TO FAX MEDICAL MATERIALS TO A HOSPITAL AND WAS ABLE TO DO SO. HOWEVER, I WAS NOT ABLE TO RECEIVE A RESPONSE FAX. I NEVER USE THE MOBILE FAX JUST THE REGULAR FAX.

WHEN I TRIED TO RESET THE FAX, THE PROGRAM LACKED ME OUT EVEN AFTER I USED MY PASSWORD. HOW CAN I REMOVE THIS BLOCK ON THE HP SOFTWARE TO RETURN TO A NORMAL FAX FUNCTION> THANKS.... FOR THE HELP?

Hi @OFP-1 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're encountering an issue with the fax function on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015, specifically when trying to reset it and when using the regular fax (not mobile fax). Here are a few steps to help resolve the issue and remove the block on the HP software to restore normal fax functionality:

Reset the Fax Settings:

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the Fax menu.
  • Select Setup, then Restore Fax Settings (this may vary slightly based on your printer's firmware version).
  • Follow the prompts to reset the fax settings to default. This will help clear any misconfigurations or lockouts that may be causing the issue.

Check the Fax Setup:

  • Ensure the fax is connected to a working phone line (not a VoIP or digital line, as these may cause issues with faxing).
  • Verify that the printer’s fax settings, such as the number of rings to answer and the receive mode, are correctly configured in the fax setup menu on the printer.
  • If you’re using the Windows 10 computer to send or receive faxes, ensure that the correct modem settings are configured.

Reinstall the HP Software:

  • On both Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan and Windows 10, sometimes issues arise due to software conflicts. Uninstall the current HP software on both computers.
  • Download the latest drivers and HP software from the HP website. After reinstalling the software, configure your fax settings again.
  • Make sure the software is updated to the latest version, as outdated drivers can sometimes cause issues with faxing.

Reset Your Printer’s Network Settings (if applicable):

  • If your printer is connected via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, resetting the network settings can sometimes resolve software lockouts.
  • On the printer, go to the Settings or Network menu and select Restore Network Settings.
  • After that, reconnect the printer to your network and reconfigure fax settings.

Test Faxing:

  • Test sending and receiving a fax to/from another fax machine to see if the issue persists.
  • Make sure that no other devices (like a call waiting service or answering machine) are interrupting the fax line.

Let me know if this helps or if you're still having trouble!

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
