HP LaserJet MFP M234dwe Printer

My friend gave me her old printer. I would like to factory reset the printer and connect it to my devices on my wifi network. I have been unable to find any helpful info on this. Can you help?

Hi @jandt16,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I’m glad to help you reset and reconnect your HP LaserJet MFP M234dwe printer to your Wi-Fi network using macOS 15.0 Sequoia. Since this printer was previously used, a factory reset is a great first step to ensure a clean setup.

Step 1: Factory Reset Your HP LaserJet MFP M234dwe

You can reset the printer using the control panel:

  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. On the printer’s control panel, press the Cancel (X) and Wireless (📶) buttons together and hold for 5 seconds.
  3. The printer will restart and restore its network settings to factory defaults.

This will clear any previous Wi-Fi configurations and prepare the printer for a fresh setup.

Step 2: Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi Using the HP App (macOS)

  1. Download the HP App from the Mac App Store:
🔗 HP App – For HP Printers, Laptops, and Tech Accessories | HP® Official Site
  2. Open the app and click “Set up a new printer”.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to:
    • Detect your printer
    • Connect it to your Wi-Fi network
    • Complete setup and registration

Make sure your Mac is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want the printer to use.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
