Hi @Bla30,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you need to perform a factory reset on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 179fnw but have forgotten your Embedded Web Server (EWS) password, here’s how you can perform a factory reset to regain access. Since you've tried various methods without success, this guide will focus on a thorough reset process:

**1. Perform a Factory Reset via Printer Menu

A. Access Printer Control Panel:

  • On the printer’s control panel, press the Setup button (gear icon).

B. Navigate to Printer Maintenance:

  • Use the arrow keys to navigate to Printer Maintenance or Service.

C. Select Restore Defaults:

  • Look for an option like Restore Defaults, Reset Settings, or Factory Reset.

D. Confirm the Reset:

  • Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm the factory reset. This will restore the printer to its original settings.

**2. Reset Network Settings

A. Reset Network Settings:

  • If the factory reset doesn’t work, you may need to specifically reset the network settings.

B. Access Network Menu:

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Network Setup or Network settings.

C. Reset Network Defaults:

  • Look for an option to Restore Network Defaults or Reset Network Settings and select it.

**3. Perform a Hard Reset

A. Turn Off the Printer:

  • Power off the printer by pressing the Power button.

B. Unplug the Printer:

  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.

C. Wait:

  • Wait for at least 30 seconds to 1 minute.

D. Reconnect and Power On:

  • Plug the power cord back into the printer and the wall outlet. Power the printer on.

**4. Access Embedded Web Server (EWS) After Reset

  • Print a network configuration page from the printer to find the IP address. This can usually be done from the printer’s control panel under Network or Reports.
  • Enter the printer’s IP address into a web browser to access the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
  • After a factory reset, the EWS password may revert to the default. Check the printer’s manual for default login credentials, which are often set to:

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
