How do I do a factory reset HP Smart Tank 7602 all in one printer?

Hi Mel857

Because the HP Smart Tank 7602 features a full touchscreen control panel, performing a factory reset is much easier than on the button-only models. You can do this directly from the printer's screen.

Here is the step-by-step process:

Using the Touchscreen Control Panel

  1. Go to the printer’s touchscreen. If the screen is asleep, tap it to wake it up.

  2. From the main home screen, swipe left or tap on Menu.

  3. Scroll down and select Tools.

  4. Tap on Maintenance.

  5. Select Restore Settings.

  6. Tap Restore Factory Defaults.

  7. A warning prompt will appear alerting you that all custom configurations, Wi-Fi details, and admin settings will be deleted. Tap Restore (or OK/Yes) to confirm.

The printer will display a "Restoring printer factory defaults" message, and it will automatically restart. You'll know it's fully reset when the status light bars turn a pulsing purple, indicating it is back in original "setup mode."

Alternative: What to do if the Touchscreen is frozen

If you are trying to factory reset because the screen itself is completely frozen or unresponsive, you can use the hardware button workaround:

  1. Turn the printer Off.

  2. Press and hold the physical Wi-Fi and Cancel (X) buttons together.

  3. While continuing to hold those two buttons, turn the printer back On.

  4. Keep holding the buttons for about 10–15 seconds, then release them and let the printer finish its reboot cycle.

I hope the above is helpful
