I received a message on my computer that says there is a Firmware update available for my HP Smart Tank 7602. So I ran it. It went on for over an hour with the printer display spinning. I've done firmware updates before. They never ran for more than a few minutes. I still let it go for about another 20 minutes. The printer screen never stopped spinning. So I power failed the printer. When it came back up the display says "The HP Software is setting up your printer". It will not advance past that point. I tried reloading all the software, and drivers. The firmware page says it's updated and won't let me reflash it. I heard HP has a Firmware recovery tool. I found the one for PC's but I can't find the one for my printer. Is there such a program out there and if so where can I download it? My warranty ran out about 3 months ago so if anyone out there has another solution please let me know. Also no matter what I do I cannot get the printer display to change.

I figured it out. Took a lot of searching. Finally I asked Grok AI and they came up with several things to try. Most were things I already tried except for one. There is a secret way to reset the printer to default settings that's not known publicly. I followed Groks instructions and it worked. My printer is back in service. I searched the internet high and low for a solution. Not one site suggested to try that reset, until I asked Grok AI. Thanks for all who tried.

I do not think reset will work but you can try it.
Microsoft's Copilot may have more recent videos.
MacOS 14 or higher needed for Copilot
Watch this video to see how to reset your printer: 7602. 7605
This link shows how to get warranty information.
note that the warranty is from the date it was delivered or bought, not the manufactured date.
Click here to read how to dispute a warranty.
Note also that your ink may be under warranty and you can try to claim that warranty. Ask for a hidden or secret procedure to reset if you get an HP agent.

I tried OpenAI (ChatGPT 5.5) and this is all that was suggested.
It is free on my PC but if I ask too many questions it drops to 4.1 and I have to wait 12 hours to get back to 5.5
However, when I told ChatGPT that Grok AI has found a secret way to reset I was then told a new solution!!!

Was any of the "new solution" correct?
