HP Color LaserJet MFP M283cdw
macOS 10.15 Catalina

Hi,

I own a "HP Color LaserJet MFP M283cdw" and I was able to scan documents using HP Easy Scan couple of month ago. HP Easy Scan app, which i was using to scan documents, has updated its version to 1.10.0 to support macOS 11.0, and it can not connect to the scanner no longer.

I have removed and installed the printer/scanner in "Printers & Scanners" over and over and I still get the same failing results. I also tried to "reset the printing system ..." and rebooted my machine 3 times! and the results is the same.

In "Printer & Scanners" when I try to "Open Scanner..." in "scan" tab of my installed printers, it "Failed to Open Connection to the Device (-21345)".

Hers's interesting part: when I install "HP Smart" app, I can easily scan document!!!

I checked the wifi network and check the connectivity to my printer and all is good.

Can anyone help me understand why I can not talk to scanner using "HP Easy Scan" and also with "Printer & Scanner?" The reason I want the "HP Easy Scan" starts to work is that it is the only option that let me scan documents via scanner feeder double sided.

Thanks,

Payam

Hi, I had exactly the same issue.

Scanner was not recognized from external programs such as preview or Iris but working from HP Smart.

I found a solution, go to HP Smart -> Parameter -> Advance Paramezer -> Network setting (tab) -> Configuation menu option advanced -> unmark IPv6 under active functions.

Since this workaround my scanner is recognized by every application.
