HP LaserJet 1536 dnf MFP
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello community,

I'm having trouble installing the printer & scanner software for HP LaserJet 1536 dnf MFP.  I had it installed before, but then I did a PC reset and all my apps got deleted.  I can install the software (HP LaserJet M1536 Basic Print and Scan Driver), but it doesn't have the software to allow me to scan.  I tried installing HP LaserJet M1536 Full Feature Software and Driver, but everytime I try to install it, it says that the operation took too long and failed to install.  What I've tried so far:

- restarting computer

- removing (uninstalling) the printer and then trying to install again

Please help!  Not sure why I cannot install!  Thank you!

Hi @Shelley002

From the printer, press the Setup button and navigate to Service using the arrows, then press OK.

Look for HP Smart Install, if any such option appears under service be sure to Disable the feature.

Unplug the USB cable and restart your computer.

Click the Start button and then the gear (Settings) icon, select Devices, and then Printers & Scanners.

If there is any HP Laserjet printer instance be sure to remove it.

From the side panel, under Related settings, click on Print Server Properties.

Within the Drivers tab, be sure to remove ANY shown HP Laserjet printer and select the 2nd option to remove both the driver and its package, then close this window.

Now reinstall the HP Software and check if you may see any difference.
