OfficeJet 8730
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

OfficeJet 8730 has been printing wireless successfully for many months. Suddenly it fails printing (after an update?).

IRunning HP Print and Scan Doctor:  all phases are OK except the Testpage fails with the error (

GiantR_0-1583591438695.png

, then in the Print&Scan Doctor  the 'internal testpage' however prints successfully !!

Conclusion of Print&Scan Docto: there's a problem with the software, delete and reinstall.

All HP print software and drivers fully deleted, latest software downloaded from HP website, printer reinstalled, same result.

This process several times repeated with no result unfortunately.

Additional facts: scanning  is OK and also there's no print problem when connected thru usb cable.

So what's the difference in the Print&Scan Doctor between the 'normal Testpage' and the 'internal testpage'?

What might cause the printing problem?

@GiantR

Hello,

In order to solve this problem, configure a new port as follows:

  1. On the keyboard, press the Windows logo key and the R key simultaneously. The Run window opens.
  2. Type control printers, then press Enter. The Devices and Printers window opens.
  3. Right-click on your printer icon, then click on Printer properties, click on the Ports tab, and click on Add Port....
  4. Select Standard TCP/IP Port and click New Port....
  5. Click Next, then enter the printer's IP address (e.g. 192.168.1.97) in the Printer Name or IP Address field and click Next.
  6. Once the port is added, click Finish and close all windows.
  7. Try to print.

I remain at your disposal in case of need.

Best regards,
