We just upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and I cannot download the software for the HP Photosmart 2610 without getting a fatal error. I did all the numerous steps as listed by Jeet_singh on June 19, 2018, but I still get the following fatal error message when trying to install the software/drivers for HP Photosmart 2610: "The older version of AIO_CDB_Software cannot be removed . . . " Please advise.

Let's try and install the Photosmart 2610 with windows built-in drivers.
Set Windows Update to automatically download driver software
Confirm that your computer is set to automatically download driver software.
-
In Windows, search for and open Change device installation settings.
-
In the Device Installation Settings window, select the Yes option, and then click Save Changes.
Follow the instructions in the document- Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi @nicole1
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "fatal error" issue.
Let's uninstall the printer software from the root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.
--->In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
--->Select your HP printer.
--->Select Uninstall.
--->In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
--->In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
--->Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
--->Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
--->Click on the Drivers tab.
--->Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
--->Select OK.
--->Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
--->Close Devices and Printers.
And then reinstall the printer full-featured drivers- Software and drivers
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi Jay,
Thank you for your response. I would have replied earlier but I was busy doing my taxes. I was able to connect my HP LaserJet P1006, but every time I attempt to install the software for the HP Photosmart 2610, it has the fatal error, then removes that software, along with some necessary software needed to operate the LaserJet P1006. I had previously tried those steps you mentioned; nothing worked. I've also been in contact with a Microsoft Advisor, and tried many other things, and still nothing worked. Still got the same fatal error. The last thing he suggested was to reinstall Windows 10, which I haven't yet tried. I'm reluctant because everything would have to be backed up again, etc. When I'm done with my taxes, I will try those steps again that you recommend and let you know what happens.
Thank you again,
Nicole

Hi Jay,
Unfortunately, neither of those solutions worked. The first didn't apply since that HP printer was already uninstalled with driver deleted. When I tried to install the 2015 software/driver I received the same error message. Then when I tried to install the Windows driver manually, and listed the HP printers, the HP Photosmart 2610 wasn't an option. So I chose the HP Photosmart 5520 since it was the lowest of the Photosmarts. It seemed to install but the test page didn't print.
Thank you anyway for trying!
Nicole

try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
And installing the basic drivers from here -Software and drivers
If this does not work install the printer manually - select driver Deskjet 990 c or Officejet 8600
Keep me posted!

Thank you, Jay!! I'm not sure how, but your response on April 7 did end up working! I was not able to print a test page before but now I can! Now both printers are installed and working with Windows 10! Not the same interface as with the HP software, but I am able to print and scan. Is this because of the Windows drivers being automatically installed? I'm now afraid to try the updates you mentioned on April 9 since I feel it's best to leave well enough alone since they are working. I'm using my Adobe Photoshop program to print quality photos since the basic driver doesn't have enough settings it seems to improve the quality of the photo.
Thank you again!!
Nicole
