HP Deskjet F2480
macOS 10.15 Catalina

Using a HP Deskjet F2480 printer (out of warranty since 4 months ago) connected by USB to a MacOS version 10:15:6.

Recently I am unable to print and unable to scan; when I select a document and press print, I get an error message reading “Stopped – ‘Filter’ Failed, 1 page”.

I have already reset the printing system, removing all printers and scanners from the printers queue and clears all print jobs and print settings from the system, including printers and scanners that are not from HP.

After resetting, and turning the printer off for 10 seconds, then turning on the printer again, I wait until the printer is idle and silent.

In the Printers window on the Mac, I click the Add button , selecting the printer from the list (only the Deskjet F2400 series  printer appears on the list), and then I click Add, but immediately another error message appears saying “An error occurred while trying to add the selected device. Unable to communicate with the printer at this time.”

I have also tried to reload the latest driver updates but the problem persists.

Is this HP’s way of making me buy a new printer now that I am out of warranty?

I have same issue with Deskjet 3054 J610 connected to a MacBook Pro.

I have the same issue with my Deskjet 3054 as well. I tried loading the drivers from HP as suggested in the error message on my Mac but that did not work!
