Anybody know where I can see my serial number on this printer??

No offense, but......

Please don't guess or say "It might be here......or it might be there".

Someone must KNOW where I can find it.

Ideally, I'd print it off, because I definitely can't be lifting this monster to look at the bottom. (Mind you, if that's the ONLY way.....I'll get help and do it.)

Thanks!

Michael

Open the toner cartridge access door (top of printer) and it is on the right side top of the printer. You can also print out the configuration page to get the serial number. Depending on service history these two numbers may not match.

It is always possible that the top label is missing if the top was replaced any time in the life of the printer and the label was not transferred. Keep in mind that these printers are over 20 years old at this point so it could have an extensive history.

Thanks, buddy.

Now my challenge is to figure out how I USED TO be able to print from my UNCONNECTED laptop in the upstairs of my house when my LaserJet was connected to my old desktop in the basement.

I'm guessing it had something to do with WiFi?

You probably had it shared out on the desktop that it was connected to. Another option is to put the printer on the network using a parallel print server. The advantage is that it is not dependent on the  computer it is attached to being turned on. You could also pickup a used HP JetDirect card on Ebay which would do the same thing.
