HP DeskJet 3750 All-in-One Printer
macOS 10.15 Catalina

I have bought a secondhand DeskJet 3750 and am trying to get set up with HP Instant Ink, however I'm stuck in the set up at having to enter the printer code. How can I find this out without being able to print? All help pages and the Smart Agent are saying to press a button combo to print a page that will tell me the code, but I don't have any ink so I can't do that!

Another thing the Agent says to skip the claim code step by manually putting your printer into Setup mode, and select Instant Ink so the printer will connect to web services itself and be automatically claimed. I think that one is what I did when I first set up the HP Smart app (using a wired connection to the internet as the printer couldn't be found wirelessly), I initially got through the set up with no issue through to putting in my delivery & payment information for Instant Ink, but it couldn't be processed for some reason. Tried it again and my information was definitely correct so something went wrong HP side. I'd think deleting and re-adding\re-setup the printer could work? But the only delete option I can find just says 'Hide printer' which doesn't sound right

I've raided so many help pages and can't find anything without having to print, and the Smart Agent is no help. The other day I asked the seller if they know the code and am awaiting another reply, but I don't think it's something they'd have note of. This is driving me absolutely mad - hopefully someone can help

@cactusbatch, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand your concern. However, the claim code cannot be obtained without the ink cartridges as this printer does not have a touch display screen.

You will have to use regular HP ink cartridges to print the claim code and then enroll the printer in Instant Ink.

You may purchase replacement cartridges and other supplies from the HP Store or local retailers.

For assistance refer to - Find the Printer Claim Code and Enrolling in HP Instant Ink

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.
