As scores of other HP owners have posted, my firmware automatically updated and now my 3d Party ink cartridges do not work.  This is blatantly illegal.

Help with a work around to rollback the firmware?  Will restoring defaults do the trick?

@MinkHeel This is a Dynamic security enabled printer.

The Firmware Update may prevent supplies with non-HP chips or circuitry from working.

Note: For printers manufactured prior to December 1, 2016 dynamic security will not be enabled by the firmware.

Please note that HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP cartridges.

My HP 8710 received this same firmware upgrade and after words print jobs appear to spool to the printer and does not print.  They say that they are printing and they do not.  Previously my printer worked fine.

I would ask if this could be my same issue?  There is no error message as the print job spools to the printer telling me that my office jet ink cartridges are no longer going to work.  It sits there stating that it is printing but does not.

Had the firmware clearly shown this error message then I would have considered buying a HP print cartridge possibly.  Now I have zero re-assurance that this is the case.  It may be that your Firmware has bricked my printer.  I have no way to know.

Hard to buy another HP product.

@Mrcoffee-111 I'm afraid you may need to contact the cartridge manufacturer for further support, as this is an issue with the cartridge,

If you need any assistance with regards to the printer, feel free to reach out to us and have a good day, ahead.
