Hi @GCF1940,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand how frustrating it is when your HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e All-in-One Printer fails to complete firmware updates on Windows 10 (64-bit). You're doing everything right by trying to keep your printer up to date, and we’re here to help you fix this.

Steps to Fix Unsuccessful Firmware Updates

1. Use HP App’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

This tool can detect and resolve firmware update issues automatically.

  • Download or open the HP App from the Microsoft Store.
  • Select your printer > Go to Settings > Diagnose & Fix
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.

2. Update Firmware Manually via HP Website

Sometimes the automatic update fails due to network or spooler issues. You can manually download and install the firmware:

3. Reset the Printer Before Updating

A simple reset can clear temporary faults that block firmware updates.

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug the cord directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector).
  • Turn the printer back on.

4. Check for Web Services Activation

Firmware updates may require Web Services to be enabled.

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Web Services > Enable
  • You can also access this via the Embedded Web Server (EWS) using the printer’s IP address in a browser.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
