Hi don’t understand why a firmware update would break my printer to a point where even the USB is no more recognized. His there a way to reset to the factory? After the firmware succeeded, nothing was working any more, the lights are all full open no blinking but this thing is kaput!

Let us perform an NVRAM reset on the printer to resolve this issue.

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

Sorry but nothing happens after 20 or 30 seconds. Does it matter if the usb cable is connected or not ? The lights stay the same before the 20 second and after. The firmware damaged this printer so badly that it cannot event reset itself and this firmware is still available so that other ones can corrupt there printer. What do you think we are going to buy another or better hp printer model? No more hp for me.

That's unfortunate. If the issue persists, please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer. 

 

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.
