Hello. I suspect my firmware has been hacked (haha, maybe I'm paranoid), and for this reason I would like to update it. However, I am unable to update it from the display screen (no such option appears), from the HP Smart app (no such option appears), from the menu that comes up when you type the printer IP address into your browser (no such option appears). I did try to download the driver open it and connect to my printer but it just says "loading..." and my printer does nothing and it never seems to connect.
Any advice? I have tried resetting the printer settings from the control panel and going from there but no luck.
Thank you,

@motionsickness, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Updating Your Printer's Firmware!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Check the Printer Model and Current Firmware Version:
- Ensure that you have the correct printer model. You can usually find this on the printer itself or via the HP Smart app.
- Check what firmware version your printer is currently on, if possible.
Visit the HP Support Website:
- Go to HP Customer Support. Enter your printer model to find the latest firmware available for your device.
Download the Latest Firmware:
- Once you find your printer model, look for firmware updates in the list of available drivers and software. Download the appropriate firmware for your printer.
Install the Firmware:
- Follow the instructions provided on the HP website to install the firmware. This typically involves running a downloaded executable file on your computer.
Alternative: Use HP Support Assistant:
- HP Support Assistant is a tool that can help manage updates and troubleshoot on HP devices. If you have it installed, it should notify you of any updates, or you can manually check for updates within the tool.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
