LaserJet 500 Color M551
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (64-bit)

I need to upgrade the firmware on my printer (LaserJet 500 color M551). I am new to supporting printers and this is the first printer I need to upgrade firmware on for a client.  The firmware is at version 2302908_435020. I need to upgrade it to 2307851_000057.  There are about 4 or 5 versions in between my current version and the latest version.

does anyone know if I can upgrade directly to the latest version or do I need to do a step-upgrade?  I don't want to break anything if jumping versions will cause any problems.

Thanks.

As far as I'm aware:

  • Each version of firmware usually includes all the fixes made in previous incremental releases of the firmware.
  • You can only get the latest firmware version from the HP website -  for your printer, this is the  2307851_000057 version you referred to.

I'd advise you to download and peruse the README file associated with this firmware update.
