Hi @Seadog2017,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Forcing a firmware update on HP devices can be a delicate process, and it's important to proceed with caution. If a firmware update has crashed or failed, there are a few general steps you can take to attempt to resolve the issue.
Power Cycle:
- Turn off the device completely.
- Disconnect the power source (unplug the power cable or remove the battery).
- Wait for a few minutes before reconnecting the power source.
- Turn on the device and check if it starts normally.
Boot into Recovery Mode (if applicable):
- Some HP devices have a recovery mode that allows you to reinstall or recover the firmware. Consult your device's user manual or support documentation to find out if this option is available and how to access it.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- For some devices, a hard reset can help resolve firmware issues. This typically involves holding down a specific combination of buttons or keys for a certain amount of time. Refer to your device's documentation for instructions on how to perform a hard reset.
Use Firmware Recovery Procedures:
- HP may provide specific procedures or tools for firmware recovery. Check the official HP support website for your device model and look for firmware recovery instructions.
It's crucial to note that forcing a firmware update can be risky, and incorrect procedures may lead to further issues or damage. Always follow the official guidelines provided by HP for your specific device model.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for replying to my post. Since I wrote it, I ended up spending a couple of hours on the phone with HP tech support troubleshooting the problem. The final result was reinstalling the firmware. The printer now works again, but there are still some documents that won’t print via WiFi when I try to print them from my iPhone. Before my problem, documents printed 100% with no problems. Now most of them print, but there are a few exceptions. The “printing” notice comes up on the printers screen for a few seconds and then goes away without printing. Any suggestions?
