I installed the latest firmware driver on the printer over wireless. After installing, the message "Verifying..." continues to be displayed over hours. I have disconnected the power cord (on/off button doesn't work). After leaving the printer off for hours, it still comes up with the message. I cannot do anything with the printer. Firmware installed is HP ENVY Photo 7100 All-in-One Printer series Firmware Update. Also, printer will not print in color. I was hoping the firmware update would correct that.
Thanks for any help. I keep promising myself to never buy HP again, but I keep getting sucked in. I am not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Hi@DVHill,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
let's Go to the HP website on your Mac to check for and install the latest printer firmware update.
-
Make sure the printer is on and connected to your computer.
-
Go to HP Software and Driver Downloads, and then enter your printer model.
-
Select Firmware from the list of drivers, click Download next to the update, and then follow the instructions.
NOTE:If you do not see a firmware option, there are no firmware updates for your printer.
-
In the HP Firmware Updater screen, select the name of your printer, and then click Continue.
-
On the Update Information step, review the results.
-
If the option to re-flash your device displays, click Continue to update the firmware.
CAUTION:Do not turn off the printer during a firmware update. This can permanently damage your printer.
-
If there are no device upgrades available, your printer firmware is up to date.
-
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
