Networking our CP1025nw has always been dicey (and I'm a software engineer with decades of experience). I saw a new firmware update available dated 2020 so I tried to install it. The updater appears to work and indicates success with a smiley face, but the printer firmware is still the 2013 version at the end. I tried to report the problem, but HP requires not just the printer serial number, but a "product number" which is nowhere to be found on the printer, on the printer's internal web server, or on the printed self test/configuration page (c'mon HP, you can do better than this). Googling yielded a likely product number of CE914A. There appear to be two hardware versions of this printer and I likely have the older one; it's possible that the firmware updater then limits the updates to the 2013 version (even though it reports success - again, c'mon HP), but who knows? Can someone at HP confirm this?
I'm sure you'd be helping lots of folks if you would:
- Tell us where to find the product number
- Tell us what the maximum firmware version for this printer is
- Fix the updater to not report success when it actually failed
- Fix the firmware. The networking problems are most troublesome, but little things too like the EcoSMART console gives you separate "wake" options for Ethernet and WiFi, but checking or unchecking either forces both to match (you can't enable wake on Ethernet but not also wake on WiFi.
Thanks!

You might want to read this first
Possibly you need to upgrade to the 2015 before the 2020 can be installed
If you read in between the lines of the first post you will notice that the OP bricked the printer with the firmware update and was was basically told that if it ain't broke then don't fix it.
A number of users here upgrade their firmware and then find that they have to buy genuine HP ink before the printer will work again. I don't think that's the problem on your laserjet printer but that's just a guess.
