Ever constant indication of a critical firmware update for Officejet Pro 8030 Series All-In-One Printer.  Multiple attempts to download and install from both the HP Support Assistant and the HP website have all failed.  Any suggestions?

@JxP1952, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are trying to update the printer firmware.

Restart the printer.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your PC.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Check the firmware version on the printer. If you have the latest version, you do not have to update it.

Go to Setup > Tools > Update

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

1.  The HP Officejet Pro 8030 Series AIO Printer is not listed in the link you provided to download and install the latest firmware.

2.   Printer screen navigation to Update is not accurate.  There is no Tools option under Settings.

Please advise.

Firmware version on printer says it's up to date. So how do I make the red notification showing on the HP Support Assistant icon in the taskbar go away?

@JxP1952

You don't have to use the HP Support Assistant app for printers. The firmware will be auto-updated when it is available on the printer itself.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

I am having the same issue.  We just want know how to disable the obviously wrong notification from the support assistant that this firmware update needs to be installed when all indications on the printer show updates are current.

No kudos or smiley faces until the question is answered.

If you see an exclamation mark on the HP Support Assistant icon in the taskbar, it means there are updates or messages that need your attention. To download and install these updates and read these messages, use the following steps.

NOTE: Not all updates are necessary; some are simply recommended. You do not have to download and install all updates, however, if you do not, the exclamation mark will continue to show on the HP Support Assistant icon.
  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon .

NOTE: The image you see might vary slightly depending on your model.
  2. Click My devices to see My PC. In this box, there are two options, Updates and Messages, both of which could require attention. You know attention is required if you see an exclamation mark.

    Figure : My PC

My PC with Updates and Messages highlighted
  3. Click Updates if it has an exclamation mark next to it. If there is no exclamation mark next to Updates, skip to step 6.

  4. From the Updates available section, check the boxes for all the updates, then click Download and install.

    Figure : Updates available

    Downloading and installing available updates
  5. Follow any on-screen instructions.

  6. Click Messages if it has an exclamation mark next to it.

  7. In the Messages are available screen, click into the messages to read them. When you are finished, click the  to the right of each message to delete it.

  8. Restart your computer.

The exclamation mark should be gone.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Your instructions on how to make the exclamation mark go away did not work.  Although there is a section for New messages with check boxes listed enabling deletion, there are none for Update alerts.  In fact, there is no Updates available section, no listings under Updates with check boxes of any kind.  It simply says Updates without any option but to download (red download cloud with a count of number of updates are available).  Please provide better instructions to make the exclamation point on the HP Support Assistant icon in the taskbar disappear.

Additionally, the HP Support Assistant is showing there is an older HP printer (no longer owned) showing the need for an Update.  This printer is not shown in Windows, and there is no option to remove it.

Please advise.

Find the delete option in the drop-down list that shows" Install Now". You will be able to delete the message and get rid of the red exclamation point.

Let me know how it goes.
