Why have you put firmware on your updates to not allow/block 3rd party cartridges, it is holding your customers to ransom. I would buy your cartridges if they weren't so expensive. I might as well throw my printer away cos I refuse to buy your highly priced cartridges.

The link you attached doesn't even list my printer nor does it give me a New Zealand number to phone HP Envy Photo 6200, 7100, 7800 Printers - 'Cartridge Problem' Error When Using a Non-HP Cartridge

Hi - I am based in New Zealand so those numbers on the link you provided do not contain a New Zealand contact.
Also I brought a black 3rd party cartridge which were working fine until I had to replace the coloured cartridges. When I replaced those....... (by the way never worked), because of your update firmware that blocks them , but now I am just getting the Incompatible Cartridges error message. It is so wrong that HP install firmware on their updates to block 3rd party cartridges, its like buying a car and being told that you can only buy new/replacement tyres for that car from a specific car manufacturer. It is a consumer's right to be able to choose what is the best product at the best price for their budget. Do you have an update that can uninstall or patch the firmware that blocks 3rd party cartridges for HP OfficeJet Pro 8710.

I purchased my HP 8710 printer with the practice and expectation of being able to use whatever quality printer ink I choose. I never agreed to only purchase HP printer cartridges. Then you updated your software - without any notice to your customers - preventing use of 3rd party vendor ink. I am a one-person shop and cannot afford over $115 plus for your set of four cartridges. You make it impossible to want to purchase HP cartridges.
I would not mind using HP brand, if the prices were far more reasonable. I have never had issues with any of my past printers because of the ink I purchased. I am a long time (and until right now), loyal HP customer, all the way back to the HP Laserjet 5M days.
I would like to roll back the software update so that I can finish using ink I have already purchased. Of course, there is a way to do that. HP just has to do it.

Agree with you comments 100%. HP have lost credibility with so many long standing loyal customers. What they will do is get you to private message off this platform do avoid the type of bad publicity these types of [edit]actions by HP cause. In my case I was sent the below email.

to me
Hi Rose,
Greetings of the day,
As per the mail that you have sent us. I understand that you are having issues with the 3rd party cartridges in your printer. Please let me know since how long have you been trying to use the 3rd party cartridges ?
We are sorry to tell you that we do not support the use of 3rd party ink due the issues of the print quality and page yield issues. By using a 3rd party cartridge you will be compromising on the quality of the print that comes out of the printer and that will affect the printer as a whole unit.
Please share the contact details so that I can share the details with you.
Thanks & Regards
