I have exactly the same issue, and all the HP suggestions I've already found from the web have made no difference.  It's been fine for years so I don't know why it should suddenly decide it won't work.

We have the same issue - printer working for years then this new firmware won't update.  We have tried mannualy and that does not work.  It means we have to reset or clear the error each time beofre we can print.

Same problem here, I tried everything as suggested, but the message re-appears each time

Very annoying!

There is a new printer  firmware update on support.hp.com dated 16th May - download and run that. It worked and fixed my problem.

Hi NickVarley, I can't find the firmware update file on the site.

How did you get it and what method did you use to update the printer?

Also, what OS are you using?

HP Recommended

I would like to know how too.  I spoke to a software engineer at HP last week, he said they know about the problem and are trying to fix it.  He had no idea how long it would be.  If you use instant Ink, they fix your settings so the printer does automatic updates - and you can't change that.  If you are not on instant ink, simply change the setting so it doesn't check.

Still have this problem. Anyone been given a fix yet?

HP Recommended

Nothing yet. One has to wonder if this is their built-in obsolescence?  It is not rocket science to fix this. The printer checks to see if there is an update, the update marker is set, it tries to download and fails. So it tries again. Any bright spark in HP thought to turn the update marker OFF?  Then we won’t have the problem- unless as I surmise, it’s deliberate.

Wondering if this may be a Win11 conflict issue, ie only works if you now have Win11?
