I keep getting a notice from HP Support Assistant that I need to upgrade my printer's firmware. Several times I've run the program and the result is that the printer is up to date. What's going on? I'm getting tired of seeing the red exclamation point on my Support Assistant icon when nothing is needed.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Go into your Control Panel:

  1. Click Start, Control Panel, Uninstall a Program
  2. When the list populates and shows you everything installed on your PC, look for HP Update and uninstall it.

Let me know if this helps.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Thanks!

Have a great day!

I'm willing to try your method, but won't that disable any notifications of new updates for my printer and CPU?

I understand your concerns.

Open the HP support assistance and click on the settings tab and you can disable the notification. As shown below.

Have a nice day!!
