Officejet 8600 Plus
macOS 10.15 Catalina

I have using HP Officejet 8600 Plus for over 10 years.  Suddenly, the printer stopped printing any word/PDF documents.  I read the instructions.  I rebooted both printer and iMac a few times, but it is not successful.

I uninstalled apps on iMac and I tried to update both driver  (Install HP East Start) and firmware (HP Officejet Pro 8600 E-All-n-one Printer series-N911) on HP Officejet 8600 Plus. The box says, "Can not update the device.  This firmware updater does not contain upgrades for your devices."

Unfortunately, it seems that both driver and firmware is no longer supported for this printer.

How can I solve this issue?

Thank you,

Kim

I read other commenters' comments regarding to this specific printer.  I realized that HP is stopped supporting this printer last year.  I wish I keep this printer longer.  I know someone's HP printer is 25 years old and still running.  What gives? SMH.

It would be nice if HP keeps supporting this printer forever, but I have doubts anyway.  To me, this printer is the best investment I made.

I recently bought a HP Officejet Pro 9015e printer today and I hope it cooperates with me today.

UPDATE:  I am not satisfied with HP Officejet 9015e printer because of a flimsy tray despite that it is updated and working.  It is really a bad design.

I am determined to get my 8600 printer working.  For some reasons, I downloaded HP Start driver software (no updated firmware) and I added my 8600 into printer list on iMac.

BAM!  It is now working (after I tested printing and scanning document).  SMH.  I decided to keep my 8600 printer and return the 9015e printer back tomorrow.

I think my 8600 is playing with my mind.  SMH.

Good night!

Did you ever get this working? I updated to the latest firmware and it broke my 8600 which had been working perfectly. It appears HP are doing it intentionally to encourage you to buy a new printer.

Hi.  I removed all firmwares, then I downloaded HP easy start (I know it is outdated).   I was stubborn to make it work.  For ome reasons, it is finally working.

Are you saying that the latest firmware broke your 8600 printer????  Wow.  Have you tried to fix your printer?

Your last statement sounds like yes to me.

Try ebay... they are selling 8600 printers.  https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1311&_nkw=hp+officejet+pro+8600&_sa...

How did you remove all firmware? Do you use a 6600? If I'm buying another printer it definitely won't be HP, whether it's used on eBay or new.

I use iMac.  I removed all firmware from Applications list.   I am still using a 8600 printer and returned a 9015e printer.  I just gave you the link if you are interested in purchasing a 8600.

I understand that you plan to buy a different brand printer, so I don't blame you.

Were the original problems you had with the 8600 ink related? After the firmware update my pinter keeps saying my cartridges are damaged. I think this is because they are third party cartridges.
