I could not add a comment to the previous chain, your website blocked my comment.
I have consistently had problems with the ability to print consistently print documents on single pages. To do this is time consuming, tedious and at time I have felt like in needed to buy another “new” printer. I thought I had the cat’s meow.
I have gone through your suggestions and I am unable to perform the set up. I consistently select print on one side only and the printer completely ignores this. I am suspicious that it also ignores the instructions to print using black ink only having my color ink supplies dwindle while only asking the printer to print with black ink only. I have always had good performances with my HP 8720 OfficeJet Pro, I have only had frustrations with my 9730e. It is as if someone programmed the printer 3 years ago and HP just forgot about updates in making the printer easy to use and hassle free.
Help me make my purchase worthwhile. Thanks for your help in solving this.

Ok, thank you for following up 😇
Sometimes drivers for Printers in Mac are not properly installed, this could happen when Mac applies a system update version like changing from Mac OS Sequoia to Tahoe version.

Thanks for your response, especially since you are doing this on your own time. I appreciate your efforts in trying to help.
Even with the Double - Sided box checked and holding an X in the box, as outlined in you note below, the printer still prints on both sides of the paper. It is hard to know if it is a hardware problem or software. I have kept the printer hardware drivers updated with the automated HP updates and the printer software updated too.
Imagine, if you will, how painfully slow things are having to print one page at a time with a long document with this printer because either the software and/or hardware is faulty. It would be great if HP can solve the problem.

Thanks to FerRX for the advice. I followed the removal and reinstallation protocol. I wanted to wait a bit before responding to ensure the "fix" was durable.
This did the trick and so far my printer in behaving appropriately, having no "temper tantrums" in doing it's own thing.
I greatly appreciate the help from those who offered and am really glad things seem to be working on the straight and narrow.
