Is there a way to force the CM1415fnw to default to Black and White at the printer level? I don't use color in this unit anymore and often if I forget to change to black and white which results in some pretty ugly print jobs as the old color cartridges are near empty.

@Naytan, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you would like to print only in black and white. However, there is no option to change this setting on the printer control panel.

This has to be done on the Mac or the application you are using to print.

  1. Open a document, photo, or webpage, click File > Print to open the Print window.

  2. Make sure your printer is selected, and then click Show Details if it displays to access the print settings available for your printer.

    Print dialog with details shown

  3. Check the box for 'Black and white'. You can save this setting as default using the Presets options.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
