@Uss5, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP LaserJet M501 printer is displaying "Ready" and "Secure," it indicates that the Embedded Web Server (EWS) or administrator settings are locked with a password. To reset or change the password, follow these steps:

Method 1: Try Default Password

  1. Open a web browser on your computer and enter the printer's IP address (you can find this by pressing the Information or Network button on the printer).
  2. Log in to the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS).
    • Default username: admin
    • Default password: Check the label on the printer or try leaving it blank.
  3. If a previous admin set a custom password and you don’t remember it, proceed to Method 2.

Method 2: Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults

Reset via Printer Menu

  1. On the printer control panel, navigate to:
    • Administration → General Settings → Restore Factory Settings.
  2. Select Reset or Restore all settings.
  3. The printer will restart, and the password will be removed.

Reset via Cold Reset (Hard Reset)

If you cannot access the printer menu:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Press and hold the Right Arrow (→) and Cancel (X) buttons.
  3. While holding them, turn the printer on.
  4. Continue holding the buttons until "Restore all settings" or "Cold Reset" appears on the screen.
  5. Release the buttons and allow the printer to reset.

Final Step: Set a New Password

  1. After the reset, access the Embedded Web Server (EWS) using the printer's IP address.
  2. Navigate to Security → Set Administrator Password.
  3. Enter a new password and save it.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
