HP DeskJet 2600 All-in-One Printer series
Microsoft Windows 11

hi,

I need to get access to the admin printer settings pages, which requires me to login as administrator, but I forgot the password, which i changed to a custom one a long time ago. Its not the default credentials anymore. I need a solution to the problem in order to integrate my printer back into the network again and to make the correct settings to ensure perfect functionality.

I don't care if I have to completely reset my printer to solve this. I need/want to reset the printer anyway.
To be able to do this I need access to the administrator account again, so I'm hoping someone can help me with this issue.

Thank you!

Hi @ifunky,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

Let's get straight into this - (Please skip the steps if you have already performed).

Network Restore - Press the Wireless button and the Cancel button from the printer control panel at the same time, and then hold them for three seconds.

If the router has a WPS push button, try these steps to connect the printer to the network -

1) Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer for more than three seconds to start WPS push mode. The Wireless light starts blinking.

2) Press the WPS button on your router.

NOTE: THE MOMENT YOU PRESS THE WIRELESS BUTTON ON YOUR PRINTER, WITHIN 30 SECONDS YOU SHOULD PRESS THE WPS BUTTON ON THE ROUTER.

If this step is not successful, then we need to first connect the printer to a computer using a USB and then convert the wired connection to wireless as the printer does not have a control panel to enter the Wi-Fi password.

Let me know how that goes.

I was able to successfully reset the network settings and then connect again, that's working.

Unfortunately, this doesn't solve the actual main problem, since the admin password has remained unchanged in the EWS. I really need admin access back...

thank you for your help!

Hi @ifunky,

Let's try a Semi Full Reset to unlock the features of the printer/Reset the password.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
