Hi @younghuh,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Find and enter the WPS PIN to complete printer setup. You have a short time (90 seconds for most models) to enter the PIN before it expires.

Enter the WPS PIN for your printer prompt in Windows 10

After the WPS PIN prompt displays on the computer, look for a PIN on the printer control panel or the information sheet that printed during setup.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

My computer is already connected to the printer via WiFi. What I need is the printer password when I browse to the printer's IP address to configur settings for scan to network folder, scan to computer, etc.

Hi @younghuh,

Thank you for your response,

If you have forgotten the WPS password for your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 printer, you can try the following steps.

  • Reset the printer network settings: Press and hold the Wireless button and Cancel button simultaneously for 5 seconds. The Wireless and Power lights will start blinking. Once the lights become steady, release the buttons.
  • Connect your computer to the printer using a USB cable.
  • Open a web browser and enter the printer's IP address in the address bar.
  • Click on the "Network" tab and then click on "Wireless (802.11)".
  • Under the "Wireless Settings" section, click on "Wireless Setup Wizard".
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your wireless network.
  • Once the printer is connected to the network, disconnect the USB cable from your computer and printer.
  • To find the WPS password, access your router's settings page and look for the wireless settings. The WPS password may be labeled as "network key" or "password".

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Please note that my question is NOT about  resetting the WPS, WiFi, or network password.

What I need to reset is the password for the EMBEDDED WEB SERVER on the printer (at local IP address 192.168.1.x) to configure scan settings, etc. Please help me reset the Embedded Web Server password on my HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 Printer.

Hi @younghuh,

Thank you for your response,

If you have forgotten the EWS (Embedded Web Server) password for your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 printer, you can reset it by following these steps.

  • Turn on your printer and make sure it is connected to the same network as your computer.
  • Open a web browser on your computer and enter the IP address of your printer in the address bar. You can find the IP address of your printer by printing a network configuration page.
  • You will be prompted to enter a username and password to access the EWS. Enter "admin" for the username and leave the password field blank, then click "Log In".
  • Click on the "Security" tab and then click on "Administrator Settings".
  • Click on the "Set Password" button and then enter a new password for the EWS.
  • Click on "Apply" to save the new password.
  • Log out of the EWS and then log back in using your new password to confirm that it has been successfully reset.

When I enter the IP address of the printer, the EWS page opens and directly prompts for the password, without prompting for the user name. The prompt dialog box says:

"Log In with Password
A custom printer password has been set. Enter the password or contact your IT administrator to access the printer's web interface."

Leaving the password blank results in the error message:  "Incorrect Password. Try again" Closing the error message.  Clicking the "Security" and "Administrator Settings" links on the page results in the same prompt for password.

Please help. Thank you.
