HP Neverstop Laser MFP 1202nw

Found different postings here regarding my question about forgotten EWS password for printer Neverstop 1202nw.
But both postings did not provide a valid solution.
Seems that it is necessary to reset to factory default.
Is there any chance to get helpful information regarding this ?
Or ist it not possible to reset to factory default for this printer model ?

Hi @TheK1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Resetting a printer to its factory default settings is often a good solution when dealing with forgotten passwords. For the HP Neverstop Laser MFP 1202nw, there should be a way to perform a factory reset. Here's a general guide on how to do this.

Factory Reset Steps:

Turn Off the Printer: Make sure the printer is turned off.

Press and Hold Buttons:

  • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons simultaneously.
  • While holding these buttons, turn on the printer.

Hold Until Lights Blink: Continue holding the Wireless and Cancel buttons until the Attention and Ready lights blink simultaneously. This can take about 10-15 seconds.

Release the Buttons: Once the lights start blinking, release the Wireless and Cancel buttons.

Wait for Reset: The printer will reset to its factory default settings. This process might take a few moments.

Print Configuration Page: After the reset is complete, it's a good idea to print a configuration page to verify the reset:

  • Press and release the Cancel button to print a Configuration page.

Note:

  • After the factory reset, you will need to reconfigure any settings, such as Wi-Fi, IP address, etc.
  • This process should clear any passwords, including the EWS (Embedded Web Server) password.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello Alden4;
thank you for taking your time and giving a feedback.
I tried your below steps for setting to factory default:

Turn Off the Printer: Make sure the printer is turned off.

Press and Hold Buttons:

  1. Press and hold the Wireless (12) and Cancel (10) buttons simultaneously.
  2. While holding these buttons, turn on the printer.

1. Paper light: Blinks when the input tray is out of paper.
2. Attention light: Indicates that the printer requires user attention.
3. Imaging Drum light: Indicates that the imaging drum needs to be replaced.
4. Lid Open light: Blinks during an ID card copy job to prompt you to flip the ID card.
5. Character display: Displays error codes, wireless signal strength, and copy settings.
6. Menu buttons: Used to change copy job settings.
7. ID Copy button: Starts an ID card copy job.
8. Copy button: Starts a copy job.
9. Resume button: e.g. prints a configuration page
10. Cancel button: Cancels print jobs.
11. Wi-Fi Direct button: Initiates a Wi-Fi Direct connection.
12. Wireless button and light: Initiates a wireless connection and indicates connection status

but nothing happens during this procedure within 10-60 seconds. The printer turns on and stays in ready mode like switching on without pressing the two buttons.
I even unplugged the power cord, waited 2 minutes, pressed Wireless and Cancel buttons simultaneously and plugged the power cord back in / switched printer on. Same result, no blinking symbols, no restart, no reset.

Press and hold the Wireless (12) and Cancel (10) buttons simultaneously when printer is already switched on leads to flashing attention light (2). Releasing the buttons then the printer restarts but there is no set to factory default, the EWS password is still requested trying to access EWS page.
Printing a configuration page is possible for me not by pressing the CANCEL (10) button but the RESUME (9) button.

Any other helpful idea ?
Thank you !
