Deskjet 3630
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I forgot the admin password on my Deskjet 3630 printer.
I’m not talking about the wifi or direct-wifi password, but the configuration password that prevents the printer’s settings from being changed.
I already tried to reset the printer to factory settings by holding the power button and clicking 2 times the black copy button, then 3 times the cancel button (still while holding power), but it didn’t remove the password. I also tried resetting the network settings by holding the wifi and cancel buttons together.
The printer is now disconnected from my home wifi network, and entering the first-time configuration mode. But every time I start setting it up using the HP Smart app, it still asks me for that password.

Do you have any idea how to find or reset this password?

Thank you!

Hi @Riddle_Decipher !

I saw in another thread that you provided information on how to do a reset that might fix this issue. Would you share those information with me via a DM?

 Thank you!

Hi @vive_le_fromage,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand that you are looking for the admin password. I'd like to help!

First off, you do not need to reset the printer. Uninstall the old printer and then install the new printer to get the wireless setup options.

  • Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer, if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Deskjet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Restart your computer.

Now, you can follow step 2 here to get the printer connected to your network here
