Hi’
I can’t install HP full function printer software on my HP Pavilion seral no. [edited] running Windows 10 Creators Fall Update as recommended by my HP Support Assistant.
I have a HP Deskjet 2050 All-in-One printer - J510a, serial no. [edited]
When I try to install the printer software version 28.0.1313.0 (DJ2050_J510_1313-1.exec), it fails with an error message stating that the operating system doesn’t support the software and that I should upgrade to Windows 7.
HP Smart printer app says that the printer is not installed even though it works, but I supposed it is installed via a Windows basic printer driver.
The PC was originally running windows 7 but was upgraded to windows 10 two years ago. I have never upgraded any HP software.
The printer is working and installed itself when it was attached by a usb-port, but I suppose It is running a basic windows driver (HP Deskjet 2050 J510 series Class Driver). HP Smart says that the installation status is “Not installed”.
The printer software installs without problems and with the same printer on HP Notebook running the same windows version.

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Forums.
Can you download and install the FULL feature printer software from HP for your operating system:
The following resource will help you :
https://support.hp.com/sg-en/drivers
Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.
Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.
Hope that helps.

I just realized that this problem is exactly the same as @geoffwi “Windows 10 unable to update driver” of 10-31-2015 10:28 AM.
Should I try the same cure (it seems a little complicated and it didn’t work) or is there any newer/better way to handle this problem?

Hi @olhof,
Try downloading and installing the HP FULL feature software first. It could solve the issue.
Else, please Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor (PSDR) tool to diagnose and fix your problem
http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_pagetype=s-926&h_lang=en&h_client=s-h-e016-1&h_keyword=dg-PDU
Can always try out other solutions if these doesn't work.
Hope that helps.

Hi’
Thank you for your quick response.
No progress.
Trying to install the full feature software results in the same error message as before, in short: Operating systems doesn’t support the software, upgrade to windows 7.
Scan doctor tells me that the full softrware solution is not installed. If I check install I get the same error as before: operating system doesn’t support…… Skipping this step, Scan doctor completes with a lot of green checkmarks except for the installed software.
The full software will not install after running Scan doctor. HP Smart tells me that the status is “not installed” even though the printer is working.
I’m back to square one again.
When I installed all the software and the printer on my HP laptop the printer is called “HP Deskjet 2050 J510 series” on my Desktop it is called “HP Deskjet 2050 J510 series Class Driver” where does this Class Driver originate from?
After installing windows 10 I had all the same problems with printing only half pages that I now read about in the Forum. The printer was only printing correctly when I chose the Class driver in windows.
It seems to me that the printer is installed but not by using the correct HP software so maybe I need to start all over again?

Hi,
Try to Uninstall and Reinstall the FULL feature software following these steps:
1. Uninstall the software in your computer
2. Download and save the FULL feature software (do not install it online)
The following resource will help you :

Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.
3. Install the FULL feature “Saved” software
Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.
If you are not sure how to do this, the following resource will walk you through the steps:
