GET /DEVMGMT/PRODUCTSTATUDYN.XML.....     or       GET /CDM/SYSTEM/V1/STATUS..... PRINTOUTS

Just recently and in the past, I have had periods of time when my printer randomly prints out reports that begin with the 2 phrases above. My printer is a Deskjet 6940. It happened with Windows 10, 11 and possibly as far back as my Windows XP days. My wife has had the same problem with her HP printer.

I read all the online suggestions that include unplugging this and that, reloading software, etc, etc. No one ever pinned down exactly what is causing this to happen. It is obviously commanded by software someplace. It took weeks to find, but eventually, I did find it.

There is a service called HPPRINT SCAN DOCTOR SERVICE that is telling your printer to print these reports daily. As it turns out, it is not timed randomly. Mine were sebt to the printer mid-afernoon but the printer did not print them out till I logged on. That made them appear random..

I ended the problem by disabling that service in the "services" branch of "computer management".. It was previously set to  automatic. That was fine till I reinstalled the printer (for another problem) and that turned the PrintDoctor service back on. This time, I went to the folder where the PrintDoctor software is located and renamed all the .exe files by adding "old" to the biginning of the filename. I wanted to do this in a way that was reversible. So far, so good.

The software was located in the t C:\PROGRAM FILES\HPPRINTSCANDOCTOR folder.

I know many people come to these sites for advice but often, when they find a solution, they neglect to come back and tell everyone else about it.
