Hi @Floodgate82,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Since the HP DeskJet 2842e was working with Cox and you have now changed to an AT&T router, the blinking blue Wi-Fi light indicates that the printer is not currently connected to the new wireless network.

Let's completely clear the old Cox network information and set the printer up again on the AT&T network. Please follow these steps in order.

1. Restore the printer's Wi-Fi setup mode
Keep the printer powered on.

  1. Press and hold the Wireless (Wi-Fi) button and the Cancel (X) button together for about 5 seconds
  2. Release both buttons when the Power button starts flashing
  3. Wait for the blue Wi-Fi light to begin blinking.
Button presses to restore wireless settings

This restores the printer's network settings and puts the DeskJet 2842e into Wi-Fi setup mode so it can accept the new network information.

2. Restart the equipment
Once the printer is in setup mode:

  • Turn the AT&T router off.
  • Wait about 30 seconds, then turn it back on.
  • Wait until the AT&T Wi-Fi network is fully available.
  • Restart the computer or phone/tablet you will use for setup.
  • Keep the printer reasonably close to the router during setup.

3. Remove the old printer from the HP App
On the computer or mobile device:

  1. Open the HP App
  2. If the DeskJet 2842e is still listed, remove/delete it from the app.
  3. Close the HP App completely.

If you are using an older HP Smart installation, I recommend using the current HP App for the new setup. HP's current setup instructions use the HP App to reconnect the printer after restoring Wi-Fi setup mode.

4. Add the printer back to the HP App
Before doing this, make sure your phone/computer is connected to the new AT&T Wi-Fi network.
Then:

  1. Open the HP App
  2. Select Add Printer (+)
  3. Allow the app to search for nearby printers.
  4. Select HP DeskJet 2842e when it appears.
  5. Follow the prompts and select your AT&T Wi-Fi network
  6. Enter the AT&T Wi-Fi password when requested.
  7. Allow the setup to complete.

The blue Wi-Fi light should eventually stop blinking and remain solid once the printer successfully connects.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
