Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have an Officejet 4630. I have recently bought a new router because the range on my internet providers sucks. Unfortunately, the internet company says i have to bridge my old and new router together...annoying to say the least (which has been done). Anyhow, the 4630 REFUSES to find my wifi now.

It will find the guest network i have set up and ever other wireless network in what seems a 3 mile radius. The printer seems to connect to the Guest wifi, just fine but When i set up my laptop to my guest network with the printer also on the guest network, the laptop cannot find the dang printer.

If i turn my guest wifi off, it still will not locate my main wifi.

I have tried a wired connection to the router, but the printer doesn't have an ethernet port, only telephone.

I have turned the printer on and off, reset the wireless settings, moved it closer to the router, usb'd it to the laptop for wireless setup via usb (in the virtual assistant help).

I have turned off and on the routers, disconnected them from each other, changed the name of the router (recommended by virtual assistant). Nothing works.

I have also attemped to enter in the ssid and password manually, but it still cannot find the wifi.

1. I dont understand why it will not find my wifi, but will my guest wifi.

2. Even when its connected to wifi (guest), my printer isnt found by any device on the same wifi (tablet, phone, laptop)

Dear sweet baby Jesus, please help me. Im not completely illiterate when it comes to technology, but dang. Ive been working on this for hours and hours.

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

Before we get into troubleshooting, I would like to ask you a few questions to get a clear picture of what's going o.

1. Is the Wi-Fi network on 2.4 or 5Ghz?

2. Are the rest of the devices working and getting connected to the new Wi-Fi?

Let us know 🙂

Thanks!

The router has both 2.4 and 5 GHz. I'm not sure which one it's on though as I don't get to choose. And yes everything else is on the main wifi with no problems. 3 phones, 2 Xboxes, 1 tv, 1 tablet and a laptop. (Not all running at the same time).

Hi,

Verifying your router band would be the first step to do, your printer only supports the 2.4GHz Wifi band, I would also suggest ensuring there is a unique name, an identical name for both the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands would cause issues.

You may contact your router service provider for help finding that app, I may try guiding you further where to look if you can clarify your router brand and model and I will do my best to help.
